  • This is the way you throw the yo-yo when you just want it to come right back to you. If you want it to sleep, it's best to throw it much harder, starting with your elbow straight ahead and the yo-yo at your shoulder.





    A "Power Throw" into a "Sleeper":

  • Here's how to throw a good sleeper. With a little practice, you'll be able to put a lot of power into your throw for long spins.
  • When you start with your arm "cocked" at your shoulder, you're using the power of several muscles at once.
  • Sometimes it helps to aim your throw at the floor about 3 feet in front of you, and let the yo-yo swing back toward you until the string is vertical.
  • Another tip to put your yo-yo to sleep is to move your hand forward about six inches, right at the moment when the string is at it's longest.

  • Practice this and all "string" tricks, with a "dead" yo-yo; it takes the pressure off while you learn! Once you can make your cradle smoothly, then try to rock your baby with a sleeping yo-yo.
